This patient presents with teeth that are short in appearance. We were able to allow the teeth to look more natural by removing excess gum tissue. This procedure is also known as a gingivectomy. It is typically very simple to perform, yet rarely offered by most dentists to patients as a simple, quick solution to this cosmetic issue. The gingivectomy exposes the actual tooth structure without damaging either the tooth or the tissue. We perform this procedure at our office often. Once the tissue has healed nicely, Zoom whitening is performed to get the teeth nice and white. In this case, the patient is waiting to have crowns placed on the front teeth.
