FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING SEDATIONS

  • Q. Will I really be totally relaxed with sedation dentistry?A. Your sedation dentist will administer just enough sedation so that you’ll be completely unaware of the treatment—as if you were asleep.

  • Q. Will I remember anything after sedation dentistry?A. At the end of the procedure, you will have little or no memory of the procedure.

  • Q. Will I feel any pain during the dental procedure?A. Most patients experience no discomfort whatsoever during treatment; in fact, many patients feel quite refreshed afterward.

  • Q. What dental treatments can I have while under sedation?A. We are happy to sedate your for most of our procedures, including implants, dentures, cosmetic treatments, crowns, and gum surgery.

  • Q. Is sedation dentistry safe?A. We have abided by oral sedation dentistry protocols for more than 30 years. Sedation dentists review your medical history and monitor you closely while under sedation to avoid any unexpected complications.

  • Q. Will my dental insurance cover sedation dentistry?A. Dr. Pryor and his staff will review your coverage and, if necessary, make financial arrangements so you receive the care that you require.

  • Q. How long will I be asleep?A. Most dental procedures last from two to six hours. Operation times vary depending on the specific procedure we are performing.

  • Q. Will I need someone to accompany me to my appointment?A. Yes. Due to the effects of the sedation medication, you will need someone to drive you home after your procedure.
