Gum Recontouring

The Gum Recontouring Procedure

Gum recontouring is a safe, comfortable procedure. The first order of business is to return the tissue to a healthy state. That is to reduce any inflammation and get the tissue tight and pink. Once that is achieved, Dr. Weaver will evaluate the contours of the tissue.

At beginning of the procedure, Dr. Weaver will first numb your gums with an anesthetic. Then, with a diode laser, will gently re-shape the gum line, sculpting excessive and uneven tissue. The laser immediately seals the tissue, promoting a fast, comfortable recuperation.

Recovery Time

The gum recontouring procedure itself is completely painless, since Dr. Weaver will use a numbing agent on the gums to eliminate pain. After the procedure, gums may feel sore or swollen. However, this will not interfere in any way with your everyday life. You do not need to take time off from work or school in order to recover. The short-term discomfort associated with the procedure can be easily treated with Ibuprofen to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
