Invisalign® Invisible Braces What is Invisalign? Invisalign ® is a new orthodontic treatment system that works to straighten teeth through the use of a series of clear plastic aligners. The clear aligners are specially fabricated to fit your teeth exactly, and over time, they move your teeth into a position that gives you a natural-looking, straight smile. How Does Invisalign® Work? You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position. You’ll visit your orthodontist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. What are the benefits of Invisalign®? Comfort – Although there may be slight initial discomfort when you start wearing Invisalign aligners, most users find them very comfortable. Convenience – Invisalign makes maintaining a good oral hygiene program much easier. As it can be removed why eating and drinking it reduces the possibility of food materials accumulating on the aligners. Also choosing your food and drink becomes much less restrictive. Discreet – the aligners are virtually invisible to anyone unless they get very close to you, so hardly anyone will even notice besides not causing any disruption in your lifestyle. Procedure To ensure the most precise outcome, most doctors use use computer imaging to create your invisalign® braces. After taking bite impressions of your mouth, they will use the invisalign® three-dimensional computer imaging system to create a series of clear retainers. Designed to shift particular teeth into place, aligners are generally first worn in the back teeth and eventually move to the front teeth. Every two weeks, you will change aligners. Each time you switch aligners, your teeth will shift. |
